The Select Division provides an opportunity for House League players to participate in competitive hockey. Teams are made up of House League players and represent North York Knights in competitive play against the Select teams drawn from other house league hockey associations in the North York Hockey League (NYHL), as well as in tournaments throughout the season.

Operation of the Select Division is the responsibility of the Select Committee, a committee of Directors from the Knights Executive team headed by Bonni Rapoport. If you have any questions about the program, please email Bonni Rapoport at nykha.knights@gmail.com.

SELECT & HOUSE LEAGUE PROGRAMS

What are important differences between a select and a house league program?

Three important differences are:

  1. The Select program is more competitive with stronger skaters having better puck handling and shooting skills that improve over the course of the year by virtue of the additional practices and games.
  2. Select participation involves higher costs due to the additional costs of ice time, NYHL entry and tournament fees.
  3. The time commitment is greater in Select due to weekday games at more distant arenas, participation in tournaments and the extra weekend practice.
