CANCELLATION OF HOCKEY PROGRAMS ON DECEMBER 18-19TH
This is certainly not the mid-season letter I wanted to be sending to the Knights families. Once again, however, our Association is faced with difficult and disappointing pandemic news. We are hearing from neighboring hockey clubs of players and entire teams that need to self-isolate due to positive Covid tests or confirmed exposures; and modelling by the provincial government task forces suggest that cases will escalate exponentially in the coming days.
In response to these reports, and in combination with the recent concerns outlined by Ontario’s Chief Medical Officer, it is with great reluctance we feel we have no choice but to suspend all North York Knights hockey activities effective immediately. This includes House League, CDS and Select games and practices scheduled for the weekend of December 18-19th. There will be no exception to this decision and we ask that all families and coaches respect this decision with no teams or players entering the arenas this weekend.
The Knights are making this decision out of an abundance of caution and in consultation with many local clubs. We certainly hope and expect that this short break will assist us in returning to our normal schedule after the holidays on the weekend of January 8/9, 2022.
We appreciate that these Covid regulations have impacted all families, but the safety of our players and greater hockey community have always been paramount to our organization. We want to thank all of the volunteers that have helped us get your players back on the ice. We wish you a happy and safe holiday season and will keep you apprised of all hockey-related developments as soon as they become available.
