2014-2015 House League and Learn to Play Registration
Online registration will open on Wednesday Apr 16 at 10:00 am. If you are a new player please DO NOT create an account for your child with the Hockey Canada system prior to April 16, 2014. This account will not be attached to the North York Knights website and you will be unable to register for the NYK at the time we open registration. Once registration is open you will be permitted to enter into the HCR registration system by entering your email address at the bottom of this page.
Please review the following instructions in order to successfully complete your child’s online registration.
Consider printing this page so you have it available during the process.
When registering, we request that you use an email address that you check regularly as this will be our means of communication with you and our players.
Please do NOT use your child’s email address for registration purposes. If you have used your child’s email address within the registration system, you do have an option to edit the information. Note that all communication from the league will be forwarded to the email address that you have provided during registration.
THE FOLLOWING HOUSE LEAGUE DIVISIONS AND LTP DIVISIONS ARE FULL FOR THE 2014/2015 SEASON:
ST MIKE’S 10:00 AM LTP – (NOTE: we do have spots available in our 11:00 am session at St Mike’s. ONLY children that are more advanced skaters may register for this program. If you register your child for the 11 am session and the child is not of the skill level we reserve the right to cancel your registration)
Hockey Canada Registry
The North York Knights Hockey Association (the “Knights”) uses the Hockey Canada Registry (HCR) for enrolment. If you are a returning player, you will be able to enter the site using the email and password that was used in the previous year. If you are a new player you will need to create a new profile using your email address and creating a password.
All fields within the registration are self explanatory and the system will prompt you if you forget to answer any of the mandatory questions. Once you complete the Member’s Information you will choose which Division your child will be playing in. Please note that only the name of the division will appear (i.e. Novice, Atom, Bantam, etc) based on the player’s birth date as entered. In the next step you will be prompted to choose Major or Minor according to your child’s year of birth. PLEASE DO NOT PLACE YOUR CHILD IN A DIVISION FOR WHICH THEY ARE INELIGIBLE. PLEASE NOTE IF YOU DO REGISTER FOR A DIVISION FOR WHICH YOUR CHILD IS INELIGIBLE YOUR PAYMENT WILL BE ACCEPTED BUT YOUR REGISTRATION MAY BE DENIED BY THE KNIGHTS. For instance, don’t try to place your child born in 2000 with those born in 2001.

All House League Players and Parents
House League games are held on Sunday evenings. Practices are held throughout the day on Saturdays, for all divisions save Midget. We will be drafting our House League teams in September. You will receive an email/phone call from your child’s House League coach once teams have been drafted, providing you with practice times and arenas as well as our regular season schedule. Unfortunately, we cannot provide practice and game schedules for any of our teams or divisions before the team draft in September. Parents/Players will receive notice of their team assignment by the end of the first week of October. Our House League practices and games are played out of various arenas. Arenas will be assigned to teams/divisions once our teams are drafted in September. Parents/Players cannot choose from which arenas they will be practicing/playing..
There may be pre-season exhibition games for the Tyke/ Minor Novice division before the Thanksgiving weekend. Our coaches will contact all players in this division should they be playing in exhibition games. All other divisions will begin the season the weekend of Oct. 18/19, 2014. Players/parents will be contacted by their coaches by Oct 8, 2014.
Select Tryouts
Select tryouts for the 2014/2015 will begin April 29, 2014. To view the select try out schedule click here: NYKtryouts2014. Other Registration Options
There are a few options you can choose when you register:
Playing with a friend: We will try to place your child on a team with the friend you have identified in your registration application. We cannot always ensure that your child is on the same team as his or her identified friend, though, especially with stronger players. Please see our page on Balancing for details.
Goalies: In some of the younger divisions players will share or rotate through this position. Please indicate on the registration application whether or not your child is interested in being a goalie. The Tyke/Minor Novice/Novice divisions rotate goalies in all House League games. Select goalies in these divisions are not permitted to play in consecutive House League games and, when not in net, Select goalies are expected to play in a forward/defence position during the House League season,
Volunteers: If you are able to volunteer, in any capacity, please let us know! Please indicate in what capacity you are able to volunteer. We need volunteers both on and off the ice. You will be contacted closer to the start of the season to clarify and confirm your position. Thank you.
